The Milbank-Merrill company is taking its next step toward building a smart meter box.
The company is now working with the U.S. government to make its meter box a part of a federal pilot program.
The U.K.-based company will be one of the companies selected by the U and U.N. agencies to participate in the pilot program, according to a press release.
The pilot program will provide a means for local governments and other stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of their smart meter solutions.
Milbank says that by making the smart meter a part and the customer a part, it will create a more reliable and secure environment for the customer.
The company says that the pilot will provide an opportunity to test the feasibility of a nationwide smart meter network, and will allow Milbank to offer the most advanced meters for the least cost to customers.
If the pilot works, the smart meters will be available in more than 90 cities across the country, including Detroit, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh.
